Default motor tune vs nitrous tune

On a motor tune for my friends car he made 505 with 27 degrees. Then we pulled 7 degrees for nitrous and car made 501 still. shouldn't there be a bigger difference.

^^ he didn't spray it. He was running the motor NA both times but with less timing the second time.

Did you fatten up the PE tables if it is a dry shot? I don't think 7 degrees will make a world of difference but you still may need to take out more.

its a direct port wet kit with 116 in the standalone. We just pulled the timing after we had the motor tune down. I was under impression that you usually loose about 5hp for each degree pulled roughly. Im wondering if there was more in the motor tune might have needed to try a few more things. Also this is unlocked automatic. His car is sick fast but if we could make it faster would be nice.

I only lost about 10rwhp with 8* out, but once had 16* out and lost nearly 60rwhp.

Also was the timing set to make the best RWHP before? Could have been more then the car was really wanting.

The relation of output to spark timing has a "flat
top" prior to falling back & pinging. So you're on
said flat-top and more spark helps none (or little).
Meaning you can play it safe and not lose much.
Nothing wrong with that.
