Default 98 Z28 99+ecu swap

I just had a buddy re-pin my 98 Z28 to a 99+ harness. everything works great, but I do not have a temp gauge or gas gauge. We changed the 3 wire 98 temp sensor to the 2 wire 99+. How do I get the temp gauge to work? Its either the gauge works or the ecu gets the signal.

Also, how can i get my gas gauge to work?

If you are using the original 98 cluster you will need to put that 3 wire sensor and wiring back in for it to work. The 98 clusters take the inputs via analog data as opposed to the 99+up which run off a serial data line.

The fuel gage can be made to work without swapping the 98 cluster if you are using EFI Live for tuning support.

Dang it. I went to the parts store and they said they didn't make the 98 temp sensor anymore and thats why the companies made the pig tail. My tuner uses HP tuners. does that mean I need to use a 99+ cluster?

We've done several of these now as well http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...t=fuel+segment I'm not sure why some people think you need efilive to do so. We're always more than willing to help out in one off applications as best we can.

That's really cool Bill. Thanks for clearing that up. Just to be clear, can one do it at a user level or do you have to send it in?
