Inspection/CEL question I had my car tuned recently and the tuner told me that the car should pass inspection. When I got it back home, the check engine light came back on (P0420 / P0430) and I cleared the codes myself thinking it was no big deal.Well, the next day I took it to get it inspected it failed due to catalyst, evap, and 02 sensors not being ready.
My question is, if I take it back after completing the driving cycle to get the systems ready, will I fail again because the check engine light is on or should I take it back to the tuner to have him fix it. And what exactly does the tuner need to do to ensure I pass?

having DTC's and emissions ready status are 2 separate things. You can have DTC's and still pass inspection, but in this case, he needs to work on the rear 02's to get them happy. You are allowed to have 1 not-ready item.
If you have a CEL, you will fail automatically. They won't even go thru with the test, just tell you to go home and get it fixed.
What your tuner needs to do is to 'program out' the codes, not disable them. If he disables them, then the readyness status will always say not complete and you will fail.
