PCM Red Connector Pin 10 Help
In the process of hacking my 01 harness or as I like to call it, converting it to a stand alone, I removed an incorrect wire. I need help tracing pin 10, the engine speed signal, from the PCM to ??? wherever it goes. Currently my tachometer is not working and the PCM is throwing DTC p0343 because RPM is below 400.
Where would that white wire be connected to? switched 12v at the relays, BCM, PIM. I traced pin 10 to an unknown connector. See the quick illustration to better understand. Any help is appreciated.

red #10 pin is the Tach signal, according to diagrams I am following to get my shandalone up and running... It is a square wave signal and voltage should fluctuate between 0 and 5 volts is I recall correctly... Folks correct me if Im worng, but Im pretty sure its the Tach signal wire.
I hope that helps

Thanks.. I now understand that PIN 10 is a signal going out from the PCM and not going in. My problem has just got more interesting. Im just going to wait for my hp tune and ill see if i can get more info that way. Whats throwing me off completely is that the car fires up quickly and the tach works just fine for a second and then it dies.
WTF Desert Racing.. I read another thread you have and I was wondering if you have a clutch or neutral safety switch connected. PCM will not start if it is not detected.

Hey Chvy Man,
That is a good idea to check. I really have nothing else to go on at this point. The PCM program should be for an automatic (motor is mated to a TH400) so no input is needed, but worth checking to see if the PCM is expecting a signal from the clutch safety switch. I cant wait to get home and check it out!
