anyone ever snapped bolts holding pcm "basket"?

Default anyone ever snapped bolts holding pcm "basket"?

i took my pcm out to send to frost and the two 10mm bolts holding the pcm in place both snapped. looks like i'm gonna have to drill em out and retap i suppose. that sucks.
this happen to anyone else?

No, but do you really think the pcm is going somehwhere? Mine sits unbolted with No Ac, or anything there and doesnt move.

that's interesting. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to drill them. i think it will be fine if you only had one bolt or something, long as it doesn't move too much

I snapped one of them a little while ago when removing the PCM. Drilled it out and replaced both bolts with new ones.

Yes, it definitely won't fall out on to the road.

But electronics should be secured so they don't smash around.

yeah at first i was thinking i'd ty some good 3m double face tape, like what is on the back of badges and whatnot. i dont know i was just worried the pcm might be too heavy for it to hold.
like the previous poster said, don't want it banging around in there.

I have had it happen on several older cars that have never had the PCM removed. Just need to be careful when removing them if they are really tight.
