on a stock internal motor, what is the highest and safest setting to have the rev limit, mine is set at 6400 right now

 

That sounds pretty good. There probably is not much more power to be found any higher from a stock car.

 

im not lookin for the power, just i shift at 6200 when i kick it and i dont wanna hit the rev limit incase im 100 rpm too slow shifing or so....i read its bad to hit it like that

 

Your stock LS1 is probably hitting peak power at about 5400 rpm, so I don't know why you would want to rev it over 6000 rpm. The stock springs are pretty soft, and you don't want to float the valves. If you like high rpm, get a good cam and springs in there first.

 

ok so what about this? knock the rev limit down to 6000 and shift at 5800?

 

Stock rev limit is 6200, I'd put it there with the engine being stock. Shifting it at 5800 should be fine. I believe I see a 224 cam in your future!
