Default BS3 Crank trigger MSD7531 belt drive dist

I've read the manuals, gone to the websites and downloaded all the info I can, but I still can't find whether or not I need a cam sensor for my install. I have all the wiring done and tried to fire the motor, and realized that the BS3 has no idea "where" it is. I am going to need a cam sensor to tell it when #1 is firing, any idea how I can incorporate a cam sensor into my system? The factory LS1 style does not match with the harness from BS. Thanks in advance.

My Tuner set up my BS3 by having me set my LSX/LS7 to top dead center on the firing stroke and mount a pointer on the engine pointing to the Zero on my Harmonic Balancer. He then uses a magnetic stand with a laser and an old school analog timing light. After he entered some info into the BS3 it fired right up.
If you want his name send me a private message and I will reply as he is not a sponsor on Tech.
Stop trying to start your engine you can do serious damage

What do you do if you aren't running the distributor?

Makes sense. Wasn't sure if the regular sensors would talk or not.
