Question HP Tuner???

I was think about getting a HP Tuner for my 98 SS Z28. To try and tune it once I get the STS kit, injectors, 2 pumps in the tank, bigger feed line, bigger return line, fuel rail, meth/water injection installed and get it stroked over to 408.

But I was told by someone that the HP Tuner will not work on the 98's. That I had to change my cumputer out with a 2000 one. Does anyone know anything about this?

No idea what your friend is talking about honestly, 98's are no problem, we even offer a 2 bar custom operating system for them.

Is a 2 bar what I would need? How hard is it to learn to use?

On a forced induction motor yes I would definitely recommend a 2 bar custom operating system. There is a learning curve, nobodies is the same unfortunately so what was pretty easy for me might not be for someone else, there is alot of reading you'll need to do to learn how to tune either way though, check out our forum www.hptuners.com and help file www.hptuners.com/help which has a lot of good information on tuning.

Would I need to hook up my meth/water injection and my nitrous up to it some way? Or would I just hook everything up normal? I guess what I am trying to ask is would I need to anything special with these items?

If your going N20 and want to incorporate spark and AFR modifiers into the tune when on the spray then you will need to use a switch and resistor that fudge's the IAT and work around that in the tune. Since you have a 98 your options are a bit limited. The later controllers have a few more options for N20 integration available but only then when tuned with EFI LIVE anyway.

What is better for tuning? HP Tuner or EFI LIVE?

Both have their advantages, we are the only one to offer custom operating systems for your pcm.

For the older 98's and if you do intend to use a custom os, then HPT is the way to go. If you upgrade to a 99 controller things start to change.
