Hers the deal. I have a 2001 z06 with a Trap intake, stock exhaust. The car has had detonation issuse since I bought it, but still put down 355 rwhp. In my quest for more power and staying smog legal I installed a small comp cam. 220/224 .530/.534 @112. Since the cam, I have a hard time starting it, poor idle quality, and actually lost 5 hp. We made a dyno pull yesterday and I saw several things. First an 11.5 afr on the wideband. The first pull we saw 5 deg knock retard, (using a preditor for data). The second pull was the same afr, but we looked at the timing. It only had 15 degrees timing, but we still heard detonation. How can I have 15 degrees, 11.5 afr, and still detonate? Also where do I start to make the car start and idle? I have seen much bigger cams idle better and start easier. All help is appreciated.
