Question 2003 C5 w/Traction Control issues at WOT

I am working on a 2003 C5 w/D1SC, CNC Heads, 3000rpm stall, 3.42 gears and TR218/224 cam.

No matter what I do I cannot get the Traction system disabled! Here is what I have done so far.

Engine>ignition>Torque Management:
TCS Retard vs RPM = 0
2nd TCS Retard vs RPM = 0
Max Torque = 639
Abuse Mode Test:
If RPM> 7000
If Speed<1
Time in Abuse Mode=0
TRQ by Gear= 639 above 1200rpm
Tip-In Trq Limit=639
Max Eng Trq=639 above 800rpm

Engine>Idle + Limiters>ETC Limit by Gear= 9000

Trans Calibration>A4 shift firmness:
Abuse Mode
255 MPH
7000 RPM
101% TPS
Torque Reduction=0's
Upshift Torque Reduction=0's

Speedometer>Speed Limiter
Speed Limit =255
Electronic Throttle =256
Speed Limit 2 = 255
Hysteresis=1
Tried 20 to 50 on Maximum MPH/Sec change

Engine Diagnostic>Test Parameters>Max Air ETC up to *200%

I am at a loss on what to try next... I have not had this issue with any 2002 or older cars. Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

As far as I know you can not disable TCS on a Y body via LS1 edit. The TCS is controlled though the EBCM (electronic brake control module). I suppose what you are experiencing is the brakes being applied, via the BCM, to prevent loss of traction.I have "TracActive Deluxe Controller", mfg by Lap Trax, which disables the TCS when I start the car.

Very true. I had forgotten to mention that I had used our Tech 2 to disable the ABS, and RTD just to make sure.

However it is a function of the ETC that I am fighting. Actual Throttle (foot) position vs Throttle blade. I should be able to turn off the TCS with the switch and smoke the tires for a couple of hundred feet . There is a noticable difference when the TCS is on and when it is switched off. I am only seeing about 40% at the TB until some factor happens and I get true WOT, even though my foot is planted hard! Timing also crashes hard during this time (0 degree BS)! Very frustrating!... But pulls HARD when the blade is at 100% (w/11 psi )!

While discussing this with my boss, he mentioned that the customer had a "Super Chips" programmer installed. I am going to reflash the PCM with a stock program and start over. I will post if it is a contaminated PCM program.

Still the same...

Anyone have communication issues between the BCM and EBCM?

Sorry I can not help further on this my experience is with M6's. This sounds like an A4/torque converter issue. However I did read a recent post by NoGo where he stated that he had, more than once, trouble using LS1 edit on a PCM that had been programed by hypertech, predator etc.. His post seemed to indicate that the PCM would need to be reflashed by the dealer so as to be able to purge the previous unwanted programming. I am not saying this will solve your problem but thought you should know.

Yes. If I turn off the traction control it makes a difference but I still cannot get WOT on the Throttle Blade. The Corvette uses an electronic actuated throttle body (no cable). When my foot is on the floor I see the TPS sensor (FOOT) at WOT, but the TPS sensor at the Throttle Body stays at 40%. It also pulls timing out. After the car is in motion, something slowly allows the Throttle Blade to go to 100%. All the other supercharged C5's that I have done let me broil the tires at will ! Hence the confusion.

I have also had issues with contaminated PCM's and can re-flash stock programs using the Tech 2. I have done this with this car with no change! (No cut and paste when doing this just to be on the safe side.)

My next point of attack is to monitor all of the TM and ABS functions to see if I can narrow down what the hell is going on. I know that the EBCM has a service bullitin in 2000 and 2001 that requires reflashing... I have not looked to see if there is anything for the '03.

Thumbs up Answers and more questions!

Pulled fuses for the ABS and EBCM! Holly %&*&%^#7 ! There must be an additional TM processing algorithm in the new box!

C5 HAS NEW EBCM PART #10343433 for 2003-2004! Bastards allways have to redesign something...

FYI, 2002 EBCM's still use the 12216561

So, anyone have any ideas?

Here is what I am thinking. Relay, & switch. Flip switch to kill power to EBCM. Delete code P1571.
