GMAF puzzled
Could anyone explain to me what does GMAF do compared to the stock MAF??
Does it lean the A/F mix or does it richen it?
Does it advance the timming when it notices more air??
Please Help

Las time I looked its just a bigger diameter and without changing the computer its just going to report less air than is actually going in the engine. So the car will lean out. Also since it is reportly less air the pcm might also allow more timing (depending on were you are at in the timing vs g/cyl curves). So basically its just lieing to the pcm which is a bad thing. You may get more power or just more knock (and loose power) depending on the octane you run.

If so porting the MAF ends would do the same. I think they are recalibrated. But to do what???

Yes porting the maf ends will do the same thing, screw up your calibration.
If the gmaf are recalibrated then they will report the correct amount of flow but you will get slightly less pressure drop. Less pressure drop = more air flow can get in. Of course you would have to be making serious power to need the extra size. There are guys making 600 rwhp on a stock sized maf and its still not the major restriction, the intake manifold is. So like most granetalli products its not a good use of money unless you are making serious power and then you would just buy it from someone else for less.

GMAF's are "ported" but mine came calibrated.
