Can I start it before I get it tuned?
I have a 77 vette with a LS1 in it. I ran it stock for a few years, but decided I needed a change. I replaced the entire top end; trick flow heads, huge cam, 102 fast intake, fuel pump, 25lbs red top injectors, etc.. I have yet to try to turn it over. I want to make sure everything is functioning before I take it to get it tuned.
My questions are:
Can I try to start it without harming the engine? I have read that the injectors will pump way to much fuel and will screw up everything...
Another question: I have removed the cats and the air pump trash, can I just simply cut the plugs for the 02 sensors and the air pump?
Thanks

A stock VE/MAF table can be too high for cold start, open loop.
I wouldn't start a new engine or a modded one without being able to change some things in the tune first.
I will get the car tuned before I attempt to turn it over. What is the recommended course of action: Pay a tuner shop to tune the car and dyno it for $450 or by my own for $800???
Flint, good question. I don't know...
This is the setup I have:
Camshaft specs are 228/230 duration, .585 in./.585 in. lift, 112 lobe separation angle
Trick flow heads: Cylinder Heads, GenX™ 215, CNC Ported, Aluminum, Assembled, 64cc CNC Chamber
102mm Fast intake
95mm intake
headers
Are the redtops enough for this setup? Do I need more? The bottom end of the engine in untouched, for now...
Tuning depends on your abilities... and the availability of a good tuner near you...
