Default Can I start it before I get it tuned?

Hello everyone,
I have a 77 vette with a LS1 in it. I ran it stock for a few years, but decided I needed a change. I replaced the entire top end; trick flow heads, huge cam, 102 fast intake, fuel pump, 25lbs red top injectors, etc.. I have yet to try to turn it over. I want to make sure everything is functioning before I take it to get it tuned.

My questions are:
Can I try to start it without harming the engine? I have read that the injectors will pump way to much fuel and will screw up everything...

Another question: I have removed the cats and the air pump trash, can I just simply cut the plugs for the 02 sensors and the air pump?

Thanks

If you put the stock injectors back in you can try and start it on the stock tune, but not with those.

are you sure you have 25lb redtops? Redtops are 36 when you run them at 58psi

Sorry, you are correct.. These are the injectors I have:

Ford Racing EV6 Style High Flow Fuel Injectors-30 lb

Can I run them without fouling everything up?

i would not recommend starting the car with red tops in it, being that its untuned. like stated above, put the stock injectors back in if you plan to start & run it at all on the stock tune. the 30# svo injectors will dump a pile of fuel into the motor unless the IFR tables in the PCM are modified.

Are those injectors even flowing enough for that setup? I would think at least 36s would be needed.

Stock injectors back in or tune it first... or wash the rings... your choice.

Even with stock injectors you can wash out the rings.
A stock VE/MAF table can be too high for cold start, open loop.

I wouldn't start a new engine or a modded one without being able to change some things in the tune first.

I will get the car tuned before I attempt to turn it over. What is the recommended course of action: Pay a tuner shop to tune the car and dyno it for $450 or by my own for $800???

Flint, good question. I don't know...

This is the setup I have:

Camshaft specs are 228/230 duration, .585 in./.585 in. lift, 112 lobe separation angle

Trick flow heads: Cylinder Heads, GenX™ 215, CNC Ported, Aluminum, Assembled, 64cc CNC Chamber

102mm Fast intake

95mm intake

headers

Are the redtops enough for this setup? Do I need more? The bottom end of the engine in untouched, for now...

The red-tops will cover that... if it were mine, I would put a good fuel pump in it though - best to do that before you tune it too...

Tuning depends on your abilities... and the availability of a good tuner near you...

Forgot to mention: Aermotive Tyhoon fuel pump with 10 and 100 micron filters. It broke my heart to put that pump in a place it couldn't be admired.
