1999 vs 2001+ ECU
I have been thinking about doing a LS swap into my jeep and have been looking for parts that I would be needed. I know very little about tuning and have been trying to learn some. I have found a 1999 corvette harness that I would prob end up going with DBW and now have found a 1999 camaro ecu.
In some of my searching I have found that some say that the 1999 is not as good as the 2001+ ECU due to different operating software. I will have to unlock this one, can it be updated to new operating system at this time? Is there many disadvantages to this ECU?

mostlikely I will be going DBC, the DBW seems like it is going to be to expensive and I have an extra DBC TB, so unless it would be a lot to convert the harness to DBC, which speartech said $50 so didnt seem like it ,was planning on going that route.

The PCM's themselves are more or less identical. I myself have a 99 Model Car with an 04 OS. You can flash in anything you like and from any model as long as it is for that type of PCM ie a 512kb 0411 Delphi PCM. FWIW you will probably hear about VIN, Cal ID, OS matching and all kinds of crap like that. Those issues are not an inherent compatibility problem with the PCM just a restriction HPTuners has (which can be overturned on a case by case basis with HPT support).
If you use EFI LIVE it could care less about this kind of matching. So keep that in mind.
