Default Ignition problem

Hey guys, I daily drive a 2001 Z28 A4 with 111k miles. For about the past two months I have been dealing with a slight issue that has gotten very bad just recently. The car will be driving perfectly fine and suddenly will want to die for a very short period of time. If I am driving slow enough the car will stall, otherwise you just feel the motor jerk and vibrate for that short time.
Today it got very bad while driving this morning with the problem occuring between every twenty to thirty seconds.

I am pretty sure the cause of this problem is whatever control the ignition. I originally thought it was the ignition control module but after looking for this part and not finding one I have come to believe that this car does not have one and that it is in the ecm. Is this true? Either way, how do I go about fixing this problem? Thanks

The only codes it is throwing are the usual ones with emissions removal and long tubes. nothing relating to the ignition. I check again today and see but I doubt it.
