Default 98 Starter Relay & Neutral Safety Switch

- 98 Firebird
- Had the engine out for a rebuild...everything is plugged back in
- Installed TH350
- Removed tranny wires (trans range A, B, C, etc)
- Removed all of the A/C wires

Car will not crank. I ran a jumper from the battery to the purple wire on the starter with a trigger and it turns over fine. Checked the starter relay @ LH front of the car. There are four wires (each wire ohm'd out okay):

- Purple...goes to the starter
- Red...always hot
- Green...terminates at console
- Yellow/Black...terminates at body control module

I assume the green wire goes to the neutral safety switch, if so what other wire goes to the nuetral safety switch? Would it be the orange/black "PNP switch signal" wire that goes from the console to the ECM? Is this a 12V+ connection or a ground?

The yellow/black wire goig to the body control module, what does it do there? Is it a 12V+ connection or a ground?

I have HP Tuners so if I should change something let me know. Otherwise I'm stumped as to why it will not crank. Did I screw something up by eliminating the tranny and/or AC wires?

Here is a complete list of wires that I removed from the harness and where they terminated on the PCM. Would one of these being gone cause the starter relay not to energize?

- Removed VSS signal return (C1-7)
- Removed AC status (C1-14)
- Removed tranny range signal B (C1-22)
- Removed tranny range signal A (C1-25)
- Removed 3-2 shift solenoid (C1-34)
- Removed 1-2 shift solenoid (C1-35)
- Removed 2-3 shift solenoid (C1-40)
- Removed AC request signal (C1-47)
- Removed tranny range signal C (C1-61)
- Removed EGR pintle position ground (C1-62)
- Removed AC refigerant pressure sensor ground (C1-63)
- Removed VSS signal low (C1-71)
- Removed AC refrigerant pressure sensor signal (C2-7)
- Removed EGR pintle position signal (C2-9)
- Removed Tranny fluid temp signal (C2-13)
- Removed tranny fluid temp ground (C2-14)
- Removed TCC enable control (C2-32)
- Removed TCC (PWM) solenoid valve control (C2-33)
- Removed EGR valve ground (C2-34)
- Removed Tranny fluid pressure control solenoid control low (C2-36)
- Removed EGR valve control circuit (C2-38)
- Removed Tranny fluid pressure control solenoid control high (C2-39)
- Removed 5V reference (C2-65)
- Removed AC refigerant pressure sensor 5V reference (C2-66)

One other thing that I changed... The large 12V+ cable that went from the battery 12V+ terminal to the alternator. I did not like having to route the cable in front of the engine (OE routing), so I ran a large welding cable from the 12V+ terminal on the battery, routed it behind the radiator, then landed it on the 12V+ stud at the under hood fuse/relay boxes. From there I ran a 12V+ cable down to the alternator.

I figured this was ok since the 12V+ stud at under hood fuse/relay box was always hot, just like the alternator stud.
