Default vac leak + maf delete tune = smooth idle??

When I bought my car the po mentioned he used the car (1998 z28, lid, exhaust) as a dyno car and said something about tuning the car to run without a maf sensor. I'm assuming in doing this he programmed the car on a set air/fuel table. I think the maf may still be tuned out even though it is connected now. Before I bought the car it had a fast intake but before sale it was switched back to stock. I guess when he did this the vac hose that goes to the hvac control was never hooked back up because it is blowing out the floor vents and the defrost (from what I can tell) not to mention I can see a hose at the back of the intake just sticking up. So in having a maf delete tune, would it be possible for the engine to idle smoothly even though there was a vac leak?

edit: btw the idle is smooth

Sure you can have a smooth idle with a vacuum leak and a mafless tune. Especially a vacuum leak in the plenum area. A vacuum leak in a single port is more likely to cause a single cyl miss and a rough idle. Not to mention a vacuum leak will cause a higher MAP reading, which subsequently adds more fuel, and usually will help smooth a rough idle caused my a bigger cam with some overlap.
