Help on 08 motor musclecar swap ecu I got a motor from a friend out of his 08 chevy max pickup. Its the L76 w/ aluminum block and 823 heads. I was going to swap this into an older musclecar. He kept all the wiring in his pickup but still has his ecu that he might send in for a core charge with his new motor.
My question is do i need his ecu/pcm for this swap and if so what is it worth? They want $220 for the core so I'd have to give him that plus have it flashed and still buy the wiring.

Good idea... If I get a junk one off ebay does just the service part# have to match or does both the numbers on it have to match? I see the same service # fits alot of vehicles but i don't know what the other # on it means. I see the same vehicle with the same service #'s but the other number is different.
