Default Disconnect MAF ?

Hey guys,

I'm a noobie and it's been 3 yrs since I tuned my TA. Don't use it ya loose it ?

I'm trying to tune my 03 Silverado and it just seems to run lean no matter what I do.

I've set the MAF freq to 0, disabled the STFT and LTFT to try and get a base VE/AFR table. Yet no matter what I do it seems to run lean.

Does the MAF need to be out of the loop ?

Attached is the current tune and a short log. It seems to me the VE is very high, but I tried upping the values to get it running.

It does run with everything enabled after I upped the MAF values a little.

It's a forged LS1 with a 224/228 115 LSA CAM 035 ported heads and a FAST 90 with a 87mm TB and the X link adapter.

ARH 1 7/8 headers into 2 3" magnaflows. CAI also.

Please check out the tune and let me know what you think.

Did you disable the MAF DTCs? If not, it will not fail.
Did you set the MAF to 10000 RPM in the Dynamic Airflow tab? If not, it will still work.

What do you mean disable STFT? You can't unless you straight up disable CL with the Enable Temp table.

There are tons of How-To write-ups on this stuff. GOOGLE, mang.

Yes, I disabled the dtc's as 1 no mil light reported.
I read in one of the write up's to Not totally disable the dtc's, as in 3 in the drop down menu, is that correct?

I thought I was suppose to zero out the MAF by inserting 0's through the whole MAF table.

This 10000, that is the max reading ?

Yes, I disabled STFT and LTFT by 284 for the turn on temp.

I read on Perf Trucks that the MAF has to be disconnected, is that true?

I've done tons of searching but never really found an answer.

Once I get it to where it will run, I will enable the STFTs and LTFT.

I uncheck SES Enable and set the drop downs to 2 - no MIL light (I think 3 is no error reported which you don't want)

You don't put zeros in the MAF table, you put it in the MAF fail frequency in the Engine Diag section in place of 11500 or 14000 or whatever is there.

10000 is the RPM you want the car to start using MAF (which you will never hit, that is in the Dynamic Airflow section of the Airflow tab.

Do not disconnect your MAF as the IAT sensor is wired in there and your car will be totally screwed up without that reading.

Make sure you are clearing the fuel trims with the bidirectional scanner before each scan/log.

Dude, Thanks for the info.

That did the trick but in trying to accelerate, the code 1514 would pop up and then I could not do squat.

So I upped the fail to the Max for the 1514 code and drove it around a little.

VE is pretty close but need more log time.
