Programming PCM for Swap
It seems the discussions on tuning concentrate on getting the best performance. I just need to get the engine to run properly by turning off the required parameters, unused sensors, etc and whatever else that needs to be done in a typical swap.
I have never done this before so I am greener than green in this respect.
Thanks for your patience!

What are you tuning with? Which PCM? Did the PCM come with the engine? Which sensors are you keeping? What is done to the motor? What kind of car is it going in? Which transmission?
I don't have a tuner yet. Diablo seems popular.
I'm not sure by "which PCM?" It is the original one that came with the engine.
I believe the O2 sensors are the only ones that are left. Any other emission sensors have been removed. I have a list of codes from the company that have been turned to allow for these removals.
The engine is factory stock out of an 06 GTO. It is DBW throttle.
It is going in a 69 Camaro.
Manual 6-speed transmission.
A little more background info...
The harness has already been modified by Current Performance. The PCM was already tuned/programmed by them to work in a swap. Certain features that aren't being used any more have been turned off.
I am having issues with it backfiring when starting it. After a few tries, the backfiring stops and the engine starts and runs fine. The check engine light comes occasionally too.
I want to be familiar with this tuning/programming process so I can troubleshoot it if necessary.
