Knock Sensor Question.

Knock Sensor Question. I am getting a code on my 1998 Pontiac Trans Am with my actron scanner of P0327. This says KNock Sensor 1 circuit low input bank 1 or 1 sensor. My question is this, Is there 1 or 2 knock sensors on my 98 ls1. If there is 2 is it more wise to replace both sensors AND the wire harness also? If im right on the part #'s they are sensor #10456603 and harness #15372170. I cant find anything to tell me there is one or two. I washed the engine bay out a week ago and thats when the SES light came on. I tried to clear the code and it came right back after 5miles of driving. Thanks in advance. 
They are on the top of the engine under the intake manifold. Pull the intake and you will see them.

check out LS1Howto.com. I did this last weekend and found my rear one was nothing but a lump of rust AND my wire was smashed under the intake. I did both as well with the new harness. check out gmpartsdirect for the stuff, I believe it was just under 100 total. I did the ls6 pcv mod while i was in there too, it's on the website i posted as well. There is a TSB out about this problem (rear knock sensor rusting), use some rtv silicone sealant around the back black knock sensor cover leaving the rear of the cover non-sealed.

More questions? Ok, I talked to the dealer today and was asked if I had the generation 1 or generation 2 knock sensor on my 98 trans am. Here is my question, is there any way to find out which one I have before tearing into it or do I just have to shred it to find out? I was hoping to order all the parts from gmpartsdirect.com and I have all the gm part numbers for either sensor and the intake gasket set. I was just trying to save down time on my ride since my only other means of transportation is my 72 chevy pickup which has a 454 (eats the gas). I also looked for the TSB or recalls and couldnt find any pertaining to the KS. I really appreciate all the answers you all have provided me so quickly also. Silver, Thanks a bunch for the links also I'm gonna need them and they awnsered a lot of my current questions.

You will not need any gaskets, the intake is all o-ringed. The TSB says to make a dam of silicon around the KS holes to prevent water from coming in. It should only be a 30min job, maybe slightly longer if its your first time pulling off your intake, due to not knowing what to do. I have no clue if you can find out if they are gen1 or gen2 KS without removing the intake. I think the only difference is the clip for the wiring harness.

According to my parts manual, YES, they come with the rubber covers on both the Gen1 and Gen2 wiring harnesses.

How do I know if I should have a Gen 1 or 2 harness? I believe my engine harness is from a 2000 6-speed Z28 and the motor is definitely a 2000.
