Getting 13 degrees of knock retard
I'm getting 13 degrees of knock retard at part throttle around 2200 to 3000 rpm range. What could contribute to this. Car hesitates through driving range also.

I know one thing that made my tuning a nightmare was my ported MAF. After 2 years i went back to the stock one and now everything is great. If you still have the stock MAF, throw it on and give it a test drive and see if it solves the problem.

My car is a 98. I just put on two 99+ knock sensors and harness. But is still as sensitive as before. What are my options. I heard to put teflon tape around the knock sensor threads. I didn't do that yet. Plus also I should torque them less than the stock 15ft-lbs to what I don't know. I just recently rebuilt my motor. I have an excessively noisey valvetrain. Its not lifter tick but on decel and part throttle its somewhat noisey. Could that contribute to the knock sensor system being to sensitive?

sounds like your motor is just a bit noisy. you can do the teflon tape thing, that will help a bit. i pulled mine out and partially filled the hole with RTV then put them back in just hand tight. it did help. if you want to take it a step farther, you can install resistors inline in the harness. i believe you would need to start with 10k resistors but don't quote me on it.

First off make sure it is false knock. 13 degrees is a TON. Once that is determined Nine Ball sells a pre-made box (the Knock-out Box) that plugs in-line in you stock Knock Sensor harness. It works great.

Straight from Ken: "Knock noise Level - 98 only - should allow you to adjust the knock sensitivity."

In the knock noise level what setting should I set the sensors at. Or where should I start to adjusting this table.
