What all do I need to start data logging my runs at the track? I have a built 80e coming my way with a transbrake and controller. I'm going to need to data log my runs so I can see what the car is doing at the line. I will admit I have never tuned a car before, but I have a good support system with people that have extensive experience in tuning, mainly LS platforms. I was thinking of going with HPtuners VCM suite for 499. I have a new Gateway that has top of the line everything so the PC side is good to go. Tell me what I need to do. Thanks guys.

So if I purchase the new v. of HP tuners will I be satisfied that something newer and better is going to jump out?
I will need some help to getting this thing going. I think I am going to go ahead and order it now.

The guy who is taking my tranny out and installing my line loc, gears, t brake accessories, 2 step, and tranny controller is named Bill Kendrick. he owns an Auto Repair shop in Burlington and works on almost exclusively modified cars that he knows the owners of from racing at Piedmont. He is well respected and knows his stuff as he has GN with a 81mm turbo and 4L80E also hence how we started talking about 80E's luckily I found him by chance. Walked up to me and started shooting the ****. He's a wealth of info on Forced Induction anything and knows his stuff. A guy he knows is who I am going to get to show me what I need to know to get started. I haven't ordered my 2 step yet though, as of tonight I found out that EFI live has 2 step feature, along with valet, and a lot of auto learning software. Plus almost all their software is 3D images and graphs. It looks really nice, and I may get flamed for this, but it looks nicer than HP tuners even. I am stuck, and not sold 100% on either.
That is the view which you can change in either as to what You want to view. Either will do what you want to do. I like HPT as it is more popular and easier to get help from what I have found.
I don't think it does minus flashing in one. But no one drives my cars but myself and a select few friends so no need for the valet. Are you running a MAF tune now? To run SD you need a 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor.

Yea I am running a MAF now. What all do I need to get? I figured my car had a map sensor on it already? Is that just a 1 or 1.5 bar map sensor?

Yea I am really liking the way EFIlive looks. If the Duramax guys love it, then it's gotta be pretty good, as those guys are crazy about power and tunes. I like the data logging on it also, with the 3d imaging it looks a lot cleaner and the smoothing really cleans it up nice. I am leaning heavily on it. Only reason I am hesitating on the purchase of either, is it wouldn't matter if I ordered it tonight or tomorrow as it won't get processed till Tuesday when everyone is back to work.
