Default Knock sensor? LS2 block with LS1 computer

I have a LS2 block with a LS1 computer.
I want to have reliable knock senors on my new set-up.
Has anyone had any luck making knock sensors work in LS2 block with a LS1 computer?

I know that I have two options;
1) install the single wire LS1 sensors in the side of the LS2 block and wire into computer or,
2) install the two wire LS2 sensors into the side of the block, I understand that Racetronix make a harness to connect the two wire LS2 sensor into a LS1 computer, how do you program them to actually work?

Thanks, I have done searching with no answers yet.

The LS2 sensors will not work on a LS1 PCM.

Thanks for the help.

Anyone had good luck running the LS1 knock sensors in a LS2 Block?

What tuning was required to make them work correctly if any?

Why would you say that, the 4.3 vortec motors use the 2 wire style knock sensors and the use the 12212156 OS on a 12200411 pcm, which is the same setup as a 2002 F-body LS1 In certian tuning programs you can switch the knock sensor type from resonant to flat response type.

This is in my version of JET's DST
TYPE OF KNOCK SENSORS
Identifies whether the engine is equipped with resonant or flat response knock sensors.

EFILive allows knock sensor type to be selected in LS1 calibrations. same as CalEditor said.

So, what is the simplest solution? I am getting ready to drop in LS2 into my LS1 F-body and I need a fix to this also.

I have two wire knock sensors on the side of the block but the wire harness is only one. Any help in simple terms would help.

Ok, I called Katech today and they said side block mounted two terminal LS2 knock sensors would not work with a LS1 ecm. They told me to buy 2004 Vette knock sensors and I should be just fine.

Wire them the same as on a 2001 or newer S10 with a 4.3 in it
They use 2 wire knock sensors, like the LS2 ones

i would guess to do this , there it would be necessary to add 2 more wires to the pcm , correct ? any diagram or how to for it ?

I am planning on making the conversion to the LS2 style sensor with my LS1 PCM using the Racetronix conversion harness and EFI live.

http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.a...1-KSRH&eq=&Tp=

From EFI live it looks like I will have to select the Flat response type listed in the drop down and rewire the sensor wires from PIN 51 to PIN 09 and from PIN 11 to PIN 10. The racetrix harness grounds the second sensor wire to the block, so it looks like no additional wiring is required.

Has anyone done this and got it to work?

I have the pins rewired and am about a week away from starting it up. Hopefully I will know within a couple of weeks!

Whether you run LS1 knock sensors by drilling/taping the bolt holes or run LS2 knock sensors and switch the sensor type you are going to have to redo sensitivity tables... and good luck with that since it's going to be trial and error.

I've tried, didn't seem to work any better/worse than the LS1 sensors fitted to the LS2 block which doesn't work all that great in my opinion.

Where is the sensor mounted on the block for the S10? I copied several tables from the S10 stock tune file. Hopefully the sensor is mounted on the side of the block like the LS2 sensor.

Not sure how to that test the sensor is working properly! Any Ideas here?

The 4.3L motor has nothing in common with the LS2 so I wouldn't expect the 4.3L tables to do anything for you.

aluminum block look for LS2/3 , and cast block look at the newer trucks , their tables should be closer

its still gonna be a couple months before i get close to do anything about this
