Lq4 pcm help...
I'm right in the middle of a motor swap and need help with my pcm. Originally, the truck had a 4.3L V6. I'm now putting a 408 LQ4 with an LS3 top end in. GM used the same computer in 2003 for the V6 and V8 engines. So I know the computer will work.
My question is, will i have to find a computer that already has the 6.0L tune on it for my tuner to use, or will my V6 tuned computer be okay for him. I heard the dealer is the only one who can reflash my v6 computer to the stock 6.0L V8 tune. Then from there, the tuner can use it.... Can someone explain why the tuner wouldn't be able to flash it for a V8?

I had the same problem, i dropped it off at this local company near my house in san antonio,tx and they reflashed it with a new 6.0 vin and it worked out great for me with no problem. They only charged me $200 that was a lot cheaper than the dealership.
Was it a tuning shop?
Thanks for your help. I will probably find a 6.0L pcm somewhere. It is the same Service number and computer model that they put in all 2003 trucks and suv's. So I don't understand why a tuner wouldn't be able to put a 6.0L tune on it.

You can flash the 6.0 tune in the V6 PCM if its the same PCM par number. You will still need to get the new pcm re-programed for the transmission your using, fuel tank, geras ratio, etc...and have certain emission codes deleted for the swap unless your going to run all the 6.0 emission stuff.
