Knock Sensor codes, what causes them? Nogo?
Every now and then I get a car with knock sensor codes for no apparent reason. Pinching wires doing intake etc i can understand, but sometimes they just pop and everythign seems right. Is the knock sensor on another circuit, liek the MAF an dfront O2s get power form the same area? I once had a car throw MAF codes all day when it had a burned up o2 extension.
Just had a guy put a cam in his car, but it still had an LS1 intake, so i dont think he disturbed that. Someone mentioned he pulled the motor when the cam was doen, but fells like everything is plugged in.
On a side note, this 224/224 LS1 intake car peaked torque kinda late 4700-4800 rpms?

I don't know if you have heard of this:
There was a technical bulletin out a few years ago for the knock sensors on the earlier model LS1's. The problem was water getting under the intake during normal operation and evetually taking out the knock sensors.
Several people that I know and built silicon damns to alleviate this problem.

I forget all the years that it spanned for. I thought it was up to 2000 though.
We typically don't get cars with knock sensor problems. Honestly, I think I have only seen 1 maybe 2 out of the hundreds of LS1's that pass through out shop.
As for the engine being pulled during the cam install........ If he is throwing sensor codes after having the motor out, most likley it is a ground that hasn't been landed or landed properly.
People like to group the grounds during a re-install of the motor. This is a no-no and can cause all kinds of odd sensor problems.
Might want to check the head grounds and the motor ground (driver side). Or remove and re-land.
