Default HPP3 and LS1edit...can they be used together?

I have an 01 WS6 A4 that is tuned with LS1edit. I was wanting to buy a used HPP3 just to play with shiftpoints, and to change tire sizes. Is anything wrong with doing this? I will not use it for anyother purpose other than adjusting shift points and tire sizes for when I go to the track. What do you guys think?

Matt

When I had my PCM mail tuned by Thunder Race I was able to use my HPP3 for shift points. It worked fine for me.

Ok thanks JFM...just wanting to make sure that I'm not going to screw anything up. Anyone else have any experience with this.

Ken Kelly (LS1 Edit guy) said he experienced some strange behavior when using the two together. I would not do it, personally.

In theory it should work, but in reality you're asking for trouble. You would be ahead to just bite the bullet and buy LS1edit. That way you can save your PCM file each time before making changes and fall back to the previous version if it goes weird.

Or even better, save some cash and get HPTuners product, it has a built in scanner, too.

Yeah I hear that. Actually I would like to buy the new HP tuners program. That thing looks great. Then again I'd be worried about the same thing ie...using the HP Tuners on top of the already LS1Edited computer.

Still looking for some more insight on this...I talked to Jayson at MTI and he said it should be ok as long as I am only changing shiftpoints and tire sizes. Now does the HPPIII just write in sectors to the PCM or does it completely reflash the entire PCM like Edit does. I'm just trying to be real careful, I really don't want to screw anything up. If it just writes in certain sectors, then everything should be ok. Someone told me that you have download your current tuning file to the HPPIII then make the changes, is that true?

Thanks, Matt
