HP tuner credits..

Regardless of "paying for credits" you were paying others to tune your car. People ask me all the time about "paying for credits". Doesn't matter. The price is what it is. I don't charge more or less because I have to license a car. The ones I have unlimited, I make a little more profit. The ones I have to license, I make a little less.
Every real tunershop I've ever dealt with has a set price ie $450, 500, etc.
They don't break it down like $100 for credits, $100 for dyno time, $100 for my training, $200 for 2 hours of my time, etc.

^^Yup..
I've explained to people that it costs $100 to tune the vehicle, the rest is my time.
Granted for my friends cars I charge the $100 and it's done..and they hook me up with some drink or something, regular people I charge $150, a little compensation for my time..$200 if I have to get in there with the Wideband.

I do not see the big deal with a somebody making a couple hundred bucks tuning a car. They spent the time to learn how to read the program screens and how to alter it. From what I have gathered it's a steep learning curve. Either you get it or you do not. If you are fortunate enough to be able to make it work then great. If not pay somebody who does.
Even if you have to take your car in 4 times because you make changes one at a time. It's cheaper that torching your motor!!

Seems like there is some knewledgeable people here that know about HPTuners so correct me if i'm wrong.
I bought my Camaro SS with HPtuners software, so the software is used. I have all the cables and module, but when i plug it in to the car nothing monitors. Is this because i don't have the credits for my car?
Merv, how do i go about doing this, as my HPtunes is used also, would this unlock any credits for this module already in use or how does that work.
I'd really like to use this software and get into tuning vehicles...
sorry for the hijack

I bought mine used with no credits, so I contacted HP Tuners and told them my Serial Number and got my current Application Key to my Module. Then started buying my credits I needed.

Uhhh....In the fusebox...lol.
the cigarette lighter fuse is also the ALDL connector fuse. No access to an owners manual but if you are not getting any connection to pcm through the connector more rhan likely the cig lighter/pcm fuse is blown...

some clarification please
if a specific car/ecm,vin is licensed for HPT can that car be tuned and unlimited amount of times?
If i use the same ecm but make big build changes like nitrous to turbo - Do i simply plug in and retune or would i have to buy more credits?
Thanks

Sorry to bring up a old thread but couple od related dumb questions.
I will buy a new HP tuner, so I get 8 credits.
I'll data log it and email the results to my tuner, that's 2 credits used for that or??
Lets say it takes 2-3 times to get the tune correct for the engine-trans still 2 credits or?
Related question..do I need 4 wide band O2's or?
I assume I need the MPVI Pro not the std?
Cats I need cats so size brand etc make a difference. exhaust will be a 2 into 1 muffler then 1 tail pipe.
Motor is a 5.3 2012 Lc9 with a dod delete and a Comp 189-401-13 cam
Thanks.
