Predator timing question
forward I get -barely- to 30.0 at 6050RPM on
EFILive logs and I've seen 29s on the Predator
display.
Putting the +10% timing adjustment will push
yours up to about 27. What accounts for the
low present timing I don't know, it might be
some knock history put you down into the
low octane end of the timing table or something.
At 30 peak timing I do get some occasional ping,
and have to choose my gas stations carefully.
More PE would cover it better but makes things
too fat. Just go with the +10% setting and the
amount of PE (+ or -) that keeps you just a
little more than barely out of KR "blips" on shifts
etc.
Also, set those fans, engine too hot might pull a
little timing. The FRA mod might also be giving you
warm air when sitting; the IAT soaks and takes a
while to track any "rolling air temp". What does the
display show for coolant temps and IAT? IAT more
than (say) outside + 5 degrees has room for
improvement. Coolant should be rock solid 194-197F.
notice that when I first romp the gas when I change anything with the
predator, the engine pings the first few times then goes away. Also yes,the IAT temp will quickly get to 130 sitting and drop quickly as I accelerate.
