Default PCM swap & emmissiions

I'm considering changing out my "98 PCM with a 2002 PCM. But I haven't seen it addressed anywhere if this would cause issues when I go in for emmissions testind. I my state, they plug into your diagnostic port and if your car is running coorectly your OK. However I was wondering if the different VIN# will cause problems?

I personally wouldn't think so, however, I do know for a fact that you can definitely have the PCM VIN number changed through a tune if it does create an issue with emissions if that is of any help to you.

I would think that they would use the VIN to match the paperwork to the vehicle...

I'm considering swapping on my 98 too.

Can I use a 98 VIN on a 99 up ECM?
