Basic tuning help and understanding for a noob. Hey guys I've got an A4 2004 GTO I just swapped a Hot Cam, springs, the Comp LS1 trunion upgrade kit, Comp Magnum pushrods, and a Cold Air Inductions intake. I'm about to have her tuned and have a few tech questions maybe you guys can prepare me for so ill know what to tell/ask my tuner. Here goes... Why does the Hot Cam have such a bad rap on tuning it, when so many people say it's a junk cam? If it's so "worthless" why is it supposedly hard to tune? Two... I think my tuner is just going to "turn up the idle" to keep her from dying. I've heard this is "old school" and incorrect that it should have the idle fueling and idle timing set, being the correct way. Lastly, where can I get a good book, or reference material to start reading and learning the tuning game. I'm decently car savvy as I make my living turning wrenches but I don't know how the software and fine tuning for power is done. Look forward to heating your responses, thank you and God bless.
