Default Running a Cam untuned in an Ls3.

How well does the Ls3 ECM do with a mild cam swap? I am wondering if the computer would learn a well enough to run well and be drivable with a mild cam change? Obviously the car would need to be tuned to optimize the the power gains. The question I have is would the car run at all untuned with the drive by wire throttle system.

Define mild cam. What are the specs? The car will run terrible untuned after a cam swap. There are some tuners in Tampa that can help, I would contact them.

The specs on the cam are 226/228 .580/.581 on a 114 LSA. The Ls1 would run untuned with a cam like that and pick up power. Of course I realize that was with a cable driven TB. I know there are tuners in the Tampa area I am trying to see if it is possible to do a cam swap and run the car a while because I am going to be doing this on a budget.

I just put a 235/240 duration 630 lift 113 Lsa cam in the other day. Car is a drive by wire c5 Corvette. Its a 6 speed. It will idle after first start up, an I will limp it over to the tuner tomorrow, but its not "drivable".

SlammedC5,

That's a lot more cam than I'm going to run and a lot of cam period for a standard CI Ls1.
Not really the apples to apples comparison I want but thanks for the input.

You have a $30k + car and want to save $$ by not having it tuned after a Cam?

Yes, it will kind of run but like crap. Plan getting tuned.

Brian you will definitely want to get it tuned. Even with a cam that small it will have terrible street manners being left untuned.

Yep.

I am trying to do things on a budget because it's a $30k car. I am doing research and planning now so I can do things well without breaking the bank and I want to avoid being one of the people that throws a boat load of cash at the car and winds up with mediocraty.

Kyle It would get tuned I am just throwing Ideas around right now.
