Default Low Voltage While Flashing OBD2

I took my car to a shop to get a retune. I noticed that a charger was hooked up to the car and i asked why. The front desk person told me it is so the voltage doesn't drop below 12.2 volts. Because if it does it messes up the computer. While flashing it I guess. Is there any truth to this?

If the PCM loses voltage during a write then yes. I don't know what the cut off is, I don't think it is as high as 12.2. My HP Tuners won't connect below 11.8, IIRC.

It's always a good idea to connect the car battery to a charger while writing to the PCM.

My $.02........
1.If the system is so low on volts, that it has to have a chrger on it for no longer than a flash takes, something is wrong.
