Default Why does my TPS angle not go below .4%?

I was a-tapping today and I found that my tps angle would constantly stay at .4% in idle. If i revved it and pulled the foot back really quick sometimes it would stay at 0 but then as soon as i hit the gas and let off it gets stuck at .4. I messed with the throttle linkage, made it sloppy loose, no effect. Messed with the screw on the tb, all the way down, and no effect. I even swapped t.b's with diffirent sensors and same result (I put on the shaner ) I normally wouldn't mind but I think it is messing up my fuel trim cells, maybe this is wrong, I'm a rookie? Becasue I have read 1-19 are my good cells to monitor but my idle is in cell 4 usually, never in the supposed idle cell (20 or 21). It never goes into de-acceleration cell i think b/c of this. So am I being nit picky or could this have an effect on tuning my l-terms. <--- Using maft to get my base l terms down right now.

Also, my auto tap is not recognizing knock even when i hit the head with a hammer (it is V 1.11 not enhanced)? any idea on how to fix this?

If the maf is stock why not use the IFR table to get the ltrims in order. This would be a lot easier and doesnt trick **** the computer into thinking more or less air is being falsely reported by the MAF

File the TPS holes a little oblong, so you
can rotate it in place a bit, like this:

Knock sensor should not respond to hammering.
The circuitry has sync/blanking to make it ignore
events that are not specifically spark timing
synchronous. If you have a header buzzing
you may have enough events to catch some
as false knock; a rap or two on the head, the
odds are pretty low that you'll line up in time
with the unblanked window.

ok, thanks for the info on the tps angle I would of never guessed that, is this a common problem???
I have always heard thats how you check it for knock sensor activity (hammer against head)? I logged with a-tap and banged on the head rapidly for about 10 seconds I figured that it would pick up something?

.4% at no throttle or 99.6% at WOT is just a normal +- error. You are effectively at 0% at .4% or 100% at 99.6%. Some show one, some show the other, but I was told by a tuner that it is the same. So, you're bangin' your head for nuthin' over that issue.

What Black LS1 T/A said...

Quote from the SAE-J1979 specification for OBD II scan tools:

"...Throttle position at idle will usually indicate slightly greater than 0% and throttle position at wide open throttle will usually indicate slightly less than 100%..."
