Default tune or other issue???

finally iv gotten my 5.3 started. been a long time coming. trying to get everything right before i take it to get tuned. so far iv just been starting it and shutting it down after it gets hot. shes running very lean. bought a pcm from ebay and guy said he did a base tune on it. i know a narrow band isnt much but it dosnt come off of lean when i start it.

i have to constantly feather the gas to keep it running. its not running anything like its sapose to.

all headers are close to the same temp. so i dont have a deal cylinder or anything.

has great oil pressure.

iv gotten a p0343 code once but havnt gotten it to pop back up yet.

all sensors are hooked up and i bought the harness from current performance so i dont think wiring is any problems.

You're asking people to evaluate your tune with only "guy said he did a base tune" for information. Like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube over the phone.

Is it going into Closed Loop mode after a few minutes of run time?

Assuming the pic in your 2nd post is to help us, I'd say you need plug wires and valve cover bolts.

Guess what I'm asking is does it sound like a tuning issue or hardware issue

I'd say most likely just a tuning issue .

With the cost of gas an stuff, driving 3 hours to get to a tuner just to find out something is wrong with my engine or truck would be a lot of wasted money and time. This is my first ls engine Iv ever owned or built. Just a nervous wreck trying to make sure everything is right. I have To much money in it for something to be wrong.

Then, send the pcm to someone that knows what to do w/ it. BE SURE to include all pertinent info. That should get you close enuf to drive the 3 hrs, and not have a stroke doing so.....
