Default timing n tune

how much timing is everyone running on their ls1 5.7 with an Texas Speed Magic Stick 4 239/242 .649/.609 Camshaft, heard someone one say 31 degrees sound like a lot



i'm changing my tuning because im wanting to run a timing retard box, it will be a mail order tuning till i can get it to the chassis dyno this spring

From what I gathered from my tuner, it all depends on how well an engine fills the cyliders. The easier the cyl is filled, and the easier the gas it pushed out, the more timing will net higher hp.

With that agreessive cam, a lot of air is being pushed in and out.. I would say 31 is a little bit much unless you have a huge exhaust matched to that cam.. 27/28 is more common.

27/28@peak trq..maybe 31 6500rpm and higher
