they are both software packages.

One is vin locked costs more, and does not have a scanner

the other is not vin locked, has a scanner, and costs less.

HP tuners seems hands down a better value

One is also a sponsor (HpTuners) ! Seriously though, the hptuners package is a better deal and has way more potential than any package thus far. Future enhancements talked about are wideband plug in etc, etc. Go to the hptuner forums and check out the conversations. I have the software and it's very easy to use (layout etc) but you do have to learn how your changes will effect the tune!

Even if the products were totally equal (which they are not - HP Tuners has more features), spend more than 5 seconds on the phone with both vendors and the choice will be easy. The customer service at Carputing (LS1 Edit) sucks!

VCM Suite Standard
1 Vehicle Type: $499
2 Vehicle Types: $899
VCM Suite Pro
3 Vehicle Types: $2999
Each additional vehicle type: +$399

So the standard VCM SUITE for $499 will only tune one car or does that mean multiple cars of the same type, example- I have a 1999 SS and 2000 WS6 will it work on both at the same time since they are both Ls1 f-bodies?

The "car types" referred to are actually "years". If you bought it for one type, say 1999 Camaro, you could tune any 1999 Camaro. To tune other years of the F-body LS1, you would have to buy a type for each year.

ls1 edit is locked to 2 vins. You'd pay less with two vin ls1edit:
1.but get no scanning tool
2. Get less support (and not support the forum------> )
3. If you had hptuners 99 and 00 everyone with a 99 and 00 in your 'hood would be your friend... Since you can tune ALL fbodies 99 and 00, not just two cars with two unique vin's.

think about #3 and the area you live in. You can call in favors after letting someone (or doing yourself) some tuning. Or charge $$ to tune their stuff. You'd be suprised at how many cars that would be 99 and 00 are still stock looking for some work done..

lastly resale value..

Ls1edit locks itself to the vin #'s, so whats its resale value compared to a product
you can use on any vin #? ALOT LESS.

I bet i could get alot more money for an hptuners gig resale versus ls1edit anyday.

But why? You can keep it and tweak/tune other folks cars when you learn it, and make the cost of hptuners back if thats your schtick.

Thats how i see it.
