Default LT1 heads and cam timing map.

Just curious, those of you that do your own tuning. What does your motor generally like for timing in the 1800 to 2800 cruise at say 45 to 60 kPa. My motor is a forged 355 w/ 11.3:1 compression ai 228/235 .613/.613 cam on 108 Lsa. Quench is at a snug .022. It is a bit jerky at light cruises and less timing seems to be the cure. I just thought that 28 to 30 degrees at a 2300 cruise was pretty low but the tight quench and good chambers is making me wonder if its just not greedy with the timing. What experiences have you had. Thanks.

I have only tuned my lt1 with 9.0 cr and a baby cam... I guessing the timing table wouldn't even be close

Yea I would expect that would be a bit different. It may be a torque converter issue. I only notice it when the converter is lock or the stall is absorbing the jerkyness one.

That's how to cure the surge. Knock the timing out of it. 28-30 is not too low in that range. You could always set the TCC to not lock up until a higher speed.

I tuned my 440 ls2 and it had the same issue. The car has a huge cam. Made 570rwhp NA. I have to run it rich in that area. So maybe add a little fuel.
