Default Computer help on 98 Trans Am!!

I just bought a 1998 Trans Am. The computer isn't mounted correctly. It's just laying loose by the forewall wedged by the heater box. The car runs good but when I hit a bump in the road lights on the dash start flashing and the car shuts off. Also while the car is running I can take my hand and move the computer around a little and the car shuts off. How is this computer suppose to be mounted? Why does the car shut off when I wiggle or slightly move the computer? Is it suppose to be grounded or something when mounted? Its Not mounted by any bracket or bolts or anything just laying there?

You have a broken or loose wire.
The PCM is not grounded thru the mounting bracket because it is plastic.
As long as both harness connectors have the screws properly fastened, moving it should not affect it

Unplug harness and check for broken wires or rusted pins

Like MontecarloDrag said, you probably have a cut or broken, or melted wire down by the computer.

The orginal computer holder is plastic, You probably just need to order one from the dealer or thru ebay. It is a different part number from the 99 up Camaro, so make sure you get one just for your year.
