Default Problem starting

Well, let me lay some background first. I have an LS1 out of a 2002 CHP Camaro that was involved in a wreck. The PCM the came with the car is dead - got crushed slightly and I believe it broke the board inside. I have a neighbor with a '99 Z28, and when I borrowed her PCM, the car fired right up with a VATS bypass installed. So I got a new PCM from the junkyard that they claim came out of an '01 Firebird. The junkyard guy SAYS it came out of a V8 car, but when I try to fire up the engine, it sounds like when someone makes that popping sound with their mouth, i.e. seinfeld song. Now this is the 2nd PCM they gave me that does this. The first time this happened it was out of a Silverado 1500 (V6) - which leads me to think this was a V6 Firebird.
Here are the numbers that are on the stickers.
STICKER 1
SERV. NO. 12200411 DMNP
(BARCODE)
*86DMNP922016KXCV* 12212431
HDW NO. 09386530

STICKER 2 STILL ATTACHED TO STICKER 1
HDW NO. 09386530 DNMP
(BARCODE)
*86DMNP922016KXCV* 12212431

If anyone can tell me what this (at the moment) worthless PCM came out of, I would really appreciate it!!!

did you flash a real bin for your motor year? you can find stock bin's all over the place or have gm do it.

never know what the guy before you had on it, mighta been a 427 stroke with 66# injectors when it was wrecked.

Gm can do this or any tuner should have a plethora of stock binaries to load on to it to get ya going.

you most certainly dont want to start a v6 binary on a v8 lol

Ok, went to my local chevy dealer - Bob Stall Chevy, and they said that the 99-00 computer was different than the 01-02 computer. But a 99 pcm works on my 02 engine. So if they can re-flash the PCM with the 99 info even though its an 02 PCM does it really matter? or is there something physically different about the PCM between those years??
