Default Low spark advance?

Ok so at first I thought I was getting spark knock but after doin some more tuning I think it's real and it used to happen consistently at 4400rpm but now that I dropped the timing there to 28* it's much happy there but at 5300rpm it would knock when PCM called for 33* and knocked 4* so I dropped it down to 31 and now it's happy there. Is this normal or do they normally want more timing, this is all for WOT tuning.

its an LT1 m6 car. I've seen alot of posts where people are running 34+ degree's from torque peak to redline why would my engine knock so much earlier? unless its in just that good of shape it dosent need the advance.

Gas used can vary greatly accross the country and even stations within a certain town. Octane also plays a big role and it varies as to what the highest you can get.

So you can't really compare what your engine likes to others just for this very reason.

well I guess I cant complain about spark to much, cause with nearly bald all season tires (that I dident buy but am replacing in a week) shes pulled calculated 5.5s 0-60 on the street. in not ideal conditions i think thats pretty good.

i agree with you, I always run 94 octane available here in southern ontario. shes never seen less since I bought it 3 years ago this year. but as I said, cant argu with results unless datamaster calcutions are way off. anything mid 5s 0-60 is quick for a close to stock nearly 20 year old car.
