Default Tune on stock ls1

Hey guys, new to the sight but I've used it forever, recently bought my brothers 99 TA a4 with 2.73's and the only mods I have on it are a whisper lid and "free ram air" after I have it fully paid off by the end of the summer I plan on doing some more serious mods (LT's, cam, etc.). For now I plan on getting some 3.43's and a mail order tune by frost. It's a 14.0 second car now, what kind of gains can I expect to see do you guys think? Thanks in advance

With a lid and mail order tune, maybe 15-20HP, which should relate to mid-high 13 second passes. I would personally wait to tune it until you make more mods than just the rear gears.

I think 15 could be had but I would wait for more bolt ons. What altitude are you at? As an ls1 fbody should easily be a mid 13s car I'd expect low 13's pretty easily with a lid/free mods. What was the car trapping?

The only way I would get a tune now is if you are using a local tuner that is giving you a real dyno/street tune. No matter what in this instance you will have to pay the first tune charge but then tunes after that are very cheap. If you're just doing mail order wait until you have something installed that actually needs a tune.

Even bone stock, the feel of this car tuned is way above what it was. I'm saying tune it even if you are stock, the difference is really there to be had

Most performance shops will correct the speedo for the new gears for $50 if your car has not been tuned there before. I'd personally wait till the cam goes in and go for the full dyno tune. IMO $400-$600 for a dyno tune on a stock car is a huge waste of money.

I'm sure if u pay full price for a future tune most shops wouldn't have an issue sending you a happy stock tune for now
