Default HP Tuners Installation Problem

Received my New HP Tuners VCM Suite package on Monday and I am having a problem installing it. I went out and bought a new laptop with Windows 8 on it. My old laptop won't cut it. Anyways I am getting the following message when I try to install the program.

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the applicaton vendor to verify this is a valid Windows installer package."

Any ideas welcomed.

It is version 2.24. Probably something in the laptop that is preventing it from loading. The other problem is with this new laptop is I am new to Windows 8. This being my first day fooling with it and just learning how to navigate around. A little different than Windows XP.

Maybe I will try downloading version 2.24 from their website. It might take that way.

I couldn't get it to work on windows 8 either, lucky I still got my old laptop. Win8 really sucks, maybe I'm not used to it yet. Let us know if you find the prob.

Thanks guys. I did download the 2.24 from the website. Then I had trouble with the drivers for the interface device. Part of the problem is me being new to Windows 8 having problems navigating around. My computers all have XP on them.

So what I did was take everything over to a local computer place and I am having them upload everything. Price is not bad. By the way the first place I went would not touch it because of Windows 8. Went to a second place who would but said Windows 7 is a more stable platform. So I am having him load Windows 7 on my laptop and then load the HP Tuners software.

Hopefully I will be good to go in a couple of days. By the way I can get around on HP Tuners(their demo) very easily as it is a format that I am used to dealing with. I see no problems once I get everything loaded up.

Update. Took the laptop to the local computer place and had them load on Windows 7 and HP Tuners. According to him the only thing on the disk was the drivers. Anyways everything now works and I am able to communicate to the car and get the information I need. Getting around on HP Tuners is a breeze as the format is something I am used to.

I got my laptop back from the tuner with a base tune speed density 3bar system, and my hp tuners shows 8 credits used, how is that possible on one computer?

maybe your tuner licensed the year/model license for your vehicle + the single vcm enhancement(speed density 3 bar custom operating system).

If your model/year cost is 6 credits and custom OS is 2, then yes it would use all 8 credits.

FWIW, I'm using the latest HPT 2.24 on W7 and W8 with no issues.

This is an awfully expensive tuning tool if it costs 8 credits to tune one car.
