Default P0336 and car not starting

Car died on me going down the highway, slight smoke coming from passenger side floorboard. Pulled the codes with EFI Live.

Upon the searching I did before the code P0336 has to be reset with a tech 2 tool.... tried running the scan with an "Actron" scan tool. Which is supposedly the generic version of a Tech 2. I cleared the codes but the car still won't fire....

Any ideas/suggestions?

Pulled the plug wires on the number 3 cylinder.... tried to start and no spark from the wire.

Pulled the plug, not wet, so it's not flooded.

P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

Check the wiring from the crank position sensor. Especially since you said there was smoke from under the pass floorboard. That is the approx location of the CPS. It is above the starter.

I checked all the wires and they appear to be in fine shape. None even close to the headers.

I was able to connect to the PCM with EFI Live, so that, in theory, means the PCM isn't shot....

EFI Live Pro can supposedly do the CKP relearn, since it has the bi-directional controls. A friend of mine is coming over later to see if we can do that. If not, gotta get it to the dealership for them to use the Tech 2 on it.
