Default Need some Help - 427 LSX drop in motor 2002 Transam

Hello I have a 2002 transam WS6 with a Cam that is putting down around 410hp at the wheels with a cam. The car right now is tuned, and I want to drop in a forged 427 LSX motor with FAST 102 that will have a Procharger on it later. The only issue I have is that if I swap motors my PCM will have the old tune on it for the NA Cam. The new motor runs at 9:1 and while i wont have to drive it much at all while she waits for the procharger and a tune from RPM, she will still need to be driven from the mechanic to my home.

My concern is by changing the motor to a completely different unit I run the potential of running lean and god for bid seizing the motor. What can I do? I do not know enough about HP tuners to feel confident in tuning the car myself.

I was planning on using stock injectors until she gets the procharger but i am not sure if that will hurt the new motor.

Anyway please let me know your thoughts. Unfortunately for me everything is far so I need to get the motor in the car get her home, have her sit a few months just starting her and taking her around the block etc. Then when winter is over get her and the procharger shipped to RPM and have them installed and tuned. Also will need to replace my fuel system which lonnie will do at that time, for the initial swap I will use my factory lines and pump.

Thanks!

Please let me know what you think

Your going to need it re-tuned before u drive it. A mail order tune could get you up and running.

The guys at the injector store you choose will be much more suited to answer this question. It hinges more on horsepower and boost than it does on compression.

I hear you but to get it to the shop it needs to run, and swapping an ls1 for a 427 lsx motor will require bigger injectors to run it to the shop. These injectors would be only for NA and the motor would have a base tune on her.

When I add the supercharger then I would have the tuner answer it for me.

As of now I'm just looking for info in relation to the swap of the ls1 to the 427

Let me know your thoughts

Please PM me, my motor is being broken down now, once its all apart and i have all the specs on it (bought used) i wont have the info. Ok so if my motor has a 58x reluctor ring and all the correct sensors in it, then what would I need to change in my 2002 WS6 transam chassis? the PCM?

You'll need a lingenfelter box for the crank signal, need to also change the map sensor, knock sensors, couple other little odds and ends but thats most of it.

So even if the motor has all the right sensor for a 58x reluctor ring and the PCM is upgraded to match as well I still need that box?

Your car has a 24x operating system (computer) the motor is 57x. You either get the conversion box or pull the crank and swap the reluctor. Swap is a lot harder but more reliable in the end.

I get that and that's what I'm saying, if I swap my PCM can I use the 58x reluctor? And what needs to be in the car to use the 58x reluctor?

Your car will not run a 58x pcm, you cant just put a different pcm in it and it work. In order to run a 58x motor in your only 2 options are 1) lingenfelter box 2) pull crank and change reluctor wheel to 24x.
