Base tune for firing of new motor, options?
As the title states, I'm starting to explore options for getting a safe base tune ready to go for first start-up of my engine. Link to my build is in my sig. I was entertaining the idea of breaking it in on an engine dyno, as the vehicle it's going into won't be ready for it for a while (need to fab mounts / headers / exhaust).
Seems like I could:
1) Get a mail order tune. How effective would this be / who does good work?
2) Get HP Tuners and do it myself. For the money and time required, not really sure I want to go this route.
3) ???
Any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

We do a lot of engine break ins for people that build there own car.
They put it together and tow it to us. We strap it on the dyno and fire it up, do some load driving on the dyno while checking/adjusting the tune.
By the time they are done the car is broken in and has a final tune.

I bought HPTuners and it's pretty once you mess with it for a little while. Much easier if you just tune your bolt on car. I took one of Bob's classes and it was like someone flipped the switch. HPT comes in really handy. Especially since you can get your money back after tuning a couple buddies cars.
