vin reprogramming
I'm running an LQ9 converted to run on the gen IV e40 ecm.
the ECM is out of a Saab 9-7x. the engine runs, but needs some tuning.
I have a superchips tuner for GM trucks, and will work on the TBSS but not the Saab. I have tried to tell the tuner that it is working in a TBSS, but it is able to read the vin, and can sense that i am a filthy liar.
is there a way to have the ECM reflashed with a vin for a TBSS, or any GMT360 with a v8? are there any concerns with the legality of acquiring a vin? I would assume that its possible to reflash my ecm as if it were just a junkyard piece going into a running vehicle with the desired vin. if i do this, do i need a vin out of a junked truck?
i'm well aware that i can solve all of my problems by just having the car dyno tuned, and that any tuner will be able to get in there, but im sick of running into accessability problems due to scanners thinking they're trying to read a saab.
sorry if my thoughts are all over the place here, i'm just kind of brainstorming, and figured that someone here will know a bit more than i do.
