Serious detonation on stock 2011 6.0 truck ..
Making this short as possible .
2011 silverado 1ton 4x4 4door utility body ....
Came in under its own power ....
Had 2 stretched / sucked valves on each side
Plugs were destroyed melted ....
Cylinder pieces of the plug stuck in the rings and wrecked the cylinder walls ...
Installed a brand new gm 6.0 .....
Runs fine but pings detonates once at operating temp .
All engine data looks fine .... LTFT approx +5 on both sides ... 02's reading ok ....
Checked for restricted cats with backpsi guage .....
Checked fuel for excessive alachole content ,,,,
This is not a flex fuel truck by the way ......
Eliminate the fuel in tank and ran with fresh fuel in the top end engine cleaning cylinder ... Still detonates does it right in the shop while loading it up .....
If you were deaf you would never know their was a problem ....
I assume the detonation took out the 1st engine ....
And if I don't get rid of it the new engine is not going to last long either .....
Only other time I have seen a sucked valve was in a 1995 s-10. With a 4.3 and it ended up having a bad cat ... Besides needing a valve job ...
Any ideas I have had this truck for 2 weeks and I'm ready for it to leave
