No SES light but codes show on a scan tool
No SES light but codes show on a scan tool I was thinking about pulling my air injection pump and the associated plumbing with it, so I pulled the relays for the pump and solenoid. The SES light did not come on but when I checked wit my aero force gauge it showed the codes for them not working. I don't know much about tuning and I bought the car with the tune already in it. Will this pass for inspection when it is hooked up to the computer or will it see the codes even though the SES light is not on.
For each code, you can:
* toggle whether or not the SES light is enabled
* toggle the MIL (malfunction indictor lamp) error mode:
** MIL set on first error
** MIL set on second error
** No MIL light
** No error reported
So I'd bet the SES is disabled in the tune but it is still set to generate a MIL. A scan tool will see the codes even if the SES indicator is not lit in this scenario.
