I put mine at fan 1 on at 170, off at 160. Fan 2 on at 180, off at 170. pretty much keeps one fan on at all times, then the other one runs when you get the a/c on.

First make sure you are not going by the stock temp gauge.

Every 160 degree T-stat I've seen actually opens at about 175 f. This includes my own ( I have a mechanical Autometer temp gauge ) I doesn't really matter in traffic you allow it to go up 5-10 degree's so I set mine at 190-on, 180-off. If your fans are running constantly, then you're just wearing them out prematurely IMO.

Most so called cooler stats do not fully open when claimed.
You should test it in boiling water with a thermal probe and find out when it 1st begins to open and when it is fully open and then match that with fan on/off values in PCM.

I never buy such stats, your better off mod'ing a stock one with shims so you can control at what temps it does in fact fully open.

Of course if the engine makeup is causing it to run hotter no matter what the stat is the temps still will be hotter so your setup may require a better flowing radiator.

The thing is, is 190 degree's is not running hot at all. In fact it's quite a bit cooler than it was stock and what all new cars run at today. You basically gain nothing. Stock these engines kick the fans on at 235 degrees. Kicking them on at 185-190 is a HUGE change. Of course everyone has to do what they are comfortable with in their own car. Just tossing an opinion out there that's all.
