ASR light randomly comes on and cars idle increases. . . My ls1 SS camaro will randomly start idling at around 1400 rpms as opposed to the usual 800 or so. When this happens the ASR light also comes on and stays on (though traction control is still functioning) I am not sure what it is or where to start checking. Could it be the idle air control motor and if so why would the ASR light come on?

Did you ever figure out why? Mine has been doing this for years. I finally have time to chase bugs down. Mine goes on and off randomly while driving. Its not the switch. I don't have the idle issues either. Is your car cammed or oversized wheels?

I really never confirmed what it was my suspicion is a dirty or failing maf. I upgraded to a stroker with a new maf and the problem has not returned. Sorry I couldn't be more help man hope you get it figured out because that drove me crazy. Let me know if you do so I can see if that was it.
